This physically and mentally intense 15.5-week program consists of approximately 700 hours of training. Candidates who are able to meet the challenge of Seattle’s Recruit Training program, will earn Firefighter I Certification, as well as training in Technical Rescue, Hazardous Materials and Driver/Pump Operator.

The FTA offers a unique location for ARFF training and is home to one of the only state-of-the-art aircraft firefighting props in the Pacific Northwest. The prop is equipped to provide realistic hands-on training using jet “A” fuel and allows the use of non-PFAS foam as an extinguishing agent.
